Observe fish while looking back on the history of
Suma Aqualife Park KOBE
On the first floor of AQUALIVE is the Suma Collection, an exhibit area open to all park visitors that house a select range of freshwater fish formerly kept by Suma Aqualife Park KOBE.
Also available is a historical exhibit of Suma Aqualife Park KOBE. We hope you enjoy looking back on the history of the aquarium while observing exhibits of fish like the longnose gar, pirarucu, Russian sturgeon, predatory carp, and Australian lungfish.

Pirarucu
Joining the aquarium in 1977, the pirarucu exhibit was symbolic to Suma Aqualife Park KOBE’s Forest Aquarium and Amazon House

Australian Lungfish
Gifted by the Queensland Museum of Brisbane, Australia (sister-city of Kobe) in 1961

Longnose Gar
Successfully bred within an aquarium tank for the first time in 1977, the world’s oldest longnose gar lives here

Gifted by the Soviet Union in 1977 upon completion of the Forest Aquarium

Gifted by the city of Tianjin in China in 1987, this species was successfully bred through artificial insemination for the first time in Japan in 1994
